Szerző Lupoli, Rosa Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Artes Oldal pp. 7-19 Absztrakt This paper presents the study of a beautiful map of the city of Esztergom (Strigonia in Latin) from the 16th century. The map, which is anonymous and without date, is conserved in the State Archive of Modena (Italy). Through the comparison of archival collections from Modena and Florence, it is possible to attribute the document to the engineer Claudio Cogorano (1554–1618) from Parma, a renown designer of military fortifications in the 16th century, active in Hungary during the epoch of the Ottoman–Habsburg wars (1594–1596). The documents presented in this paper record his work in the entourage of Don Giovanni de Medici, famous warlord of the Medici family, and trace back to the years 1595–1596 during which they collaborated to the project of the fortress of Komárom (Comar) and Esztergom. These documents allow us to attribute to Claudio Cogorano the paternity of some important Hungarian maps of that time in the Archive of Modena.
- Foucault a-t-il cru à ses doctrines ? Foucault contre le foucaldisme
Szerző Cseke, Ákos Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Artes Oldal pp. 21-39 Absztrakt This paper examines two fascinating but at the same time problematic “uses” of the philosophy of the late Michel Foucault. One of them is what Paul Veyne refers to as the question of origin (the origin of history and of historical events); the other, originating in the book entitled Use of Bodies by Giorgio Agamben, is the issue of subjectivity. It seems that in his philosophical research of the eighties which he calls “the courage of truth”, Foucault was hardly interested in the philosophical doctrines that he had developed previously. I argue that Foucault’s main target – “thinking differently” – was not only a slogan that he invented for himself, it was a real profession of faith: philosophy was considered by him as an act that allowed him to unlearn his own convictions, methods, theories and truths of yesteryear.
- András Illyés's St. Martin sermons
Szerző Maczák, Ibolya Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Artes Oldal pp. 43-50 Absztrakt Péter Pázmány never published a single sermon about saints of the Árpád dynasty; however, he published one about the canonized King Ladislaus, although not under his own name: Transylvanian bishop András Illyés published Pázmány’s only speech written for St. Martin’s day as three Saint Ladislaus sermons under the title Megrövidittetett ige [The divided word] in the 1692 volume of his five-volume collection of sermons. András Illyés’s work as a compiler was further affected by his editorial principles. In his collection of sermons about saints, there is a sermon about St. Martin, but it is not based on Pázmány’s speech: Illyés clearly worked with a range of sources in compiling his volumes. New findings also allow for identifying texts with Italian sources, among them texts which Illyés translated into Hungarian from Giuseppe Mansi’s collection, Prontuario sacro per tutte le solennità, and published in abridged form under his own name.
- The hymn of Saint Martin by Murmellius
Szerző Tuhári, Attila Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Artes Oldal pp. 51-63 Absztrakt The present paper attempts to map the allusions between Johannes Murmellius of Roermond’s Saint Martin Hymn and the works of Sulpicius Severus about the poets, Horace and Ovid. The results of the examination reveal that Murmellius wished to make his work an integral part of the literary tradition by reflecting on ancient and supposedly contemporary poems.
Szerző Pataki, Elvira Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Artes Oldal pp. 65-100 Absztrakt The present paper aims at examining the motif of textiles and dressing in the Latin hagiographic epos of Venantius Fortunatus. Key elements of the biographical tradition about Saint Martin of Tours, the images of cloths and the scenes of dress sharing seem to have special narrative and aesthetic functions in the poem while keeping their essential ascetic, thaumatourgic and anthropological importance. Being dressed appears as a symbol of being saved and protected, while a naked body can signify human vulnerability, temptation and sin at the same time. The stories woven into the poetic text about the different textiles of human or heavenly origin that are worn or shared by Saint Martin are used to illustrate the spiritual progress of the hero. Nevertheless, these episodes provide the unity of the narrative and renew some generic topos and skills of classical epic poetry (see the case of ecphrasis or enargeia) as well as formulate highly self-reflective metapoetic statements about creating a discourse. Finally, they raise questions about the hierarchy between visual arts (weaving, jewellery) and verbality, and reflect on the limits of human ways of expression in the representation of immaterial divine beauty.
- Sant'Ambrogio e San Martino
Szerző Domokos, György Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Artes Oldal pp. 101-109 Absztrakt The goal of the short paper is to point out parallelisms between the lives and cults of two saints of the 4th century, Martinus and Ambrosius. They both were bishops of important cities and defenders of catholic orthodoxy against Arian heresy. The apsidal mosaic of the Milanese St. Ambrosius basilica from the 9th century as well as the golden altar of the same church represent a curious scene with the aim of linking together the two personalities. We can point out that it is just in this period that the cult of Martinus is becoming a symbol of the emerging Caroling empire even in the far away native city of Savaria (today’s Szombathely in Hungary), and so the representation of Ambrosius also meant the linking the city of Milan to the Empire.
Szerző Mohácsy, Eszter Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Critica Oldal pp. 113-133 Absztrakt This study discusses the connection between music and poetry in the early period of the Italian Nobel prize winner, Eugenio Montale’s poems. The greatest musical influence on his way of writing was the French composer, Claude Debussy. In this paper, I show how Montale was able to use this influence in certain poems. The paper focuses on three different pieces (Corno inglese, Falsetto, Musica sognata) of the same volume, Ossi di seppia. With few quotes from the poet himself, the reader will have a closer understanding of the essence of Montale’s poetry and how music can be the focus and not only an instrument in these poems.
- Apologie d'un monstre sacré
Szerző Marsó, Paula Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Critica Oldal pp. 135-147 Absztrakt One of Rousseau’s last writings, Dialogues. Rousseau juge de J.-J. (Dialogues. Rousseau, judge of J.-J.) has long been viewed as evidence of his paranoia. It consists of three dialogues between a character named “Rousseau” and one identified as “Frenchman” who discuss the bad reputation and works of an author named “Jean-Jacques”. Rousseau sought to justify his entire career and undertook his most comprehensive reflection on himself as an author, his books, and his audience.
Szerző Nemrava, Daniel Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Critica Oldal pp. 149-158 Absztrakt This study aims to describe the main aspects of narrative discourse in the novel Distancia de rescate by Samanta Schweblin. The paper examines the extent to which the novel can be classified into the genre of fantasy literature, using the application of linguistic transgression theory at three levels: syntactic, semantic and the level of discourse. Narratological analysis examines the parallel between the theme and the types of focalization. The last examined aspect is the strategy of constructing a literary space that exhibits the features of dystopia, based on B. McHale’s theory of a “heteropian zone” in postmodern fiction. At the same time, the work tries to prove that fiction goes beyond the limits of the genre, highlighting the socio-political and ecological context.
Szerző Malovecký, Mojmír Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Critica Oldal pp. 159-172 Absztrakt The study outlines the factographic extralinguistic context of the selected parts of chapters 21 and 22 of the travel story Impressions from France by the Slovak writer Martin Kukučín. It analyzes the conceptualization by the author of the literary text in selection of cultural facts about history of France and contemporary life particularly in Paris in the twenties of twentieth century from a Central European perspective. It focuses on the author’s typical approach in textual construction combining historical facts, the author’s subjective points of view, and the description of everyday life in the streets of Paris, positively emphasizing the French people, their country and history.
- Per un dizionario dell'italiano burocratico
Szerző Pace, Bruno Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Linguistica Oldal pp. 175-188 Absztrakt In this paper we present our research project which aims to create a dictionary of bureaucratic Italian. We start by defining the area of interest, and how it has been considered by linguists. We will see how bureaucratic terms are recorded in the main contemporary dictionaries. Then we illustrate how we intend to implement our work: we will build a corpus of selected texts, from which we will get the list of headwords, and plan the format for each entry and the general structure of our dictionary. We expect that this work may be useful in the studies of the bureaucratic language and may encourage further projects.
- The "untamed" /s/ of Italian dialects: An overview of the singular behaviour of Italo-Romance sibilants
Szerző Huszthy, Bálint Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Linguistica Oldal pp. 189-214 Absztrakt Sibilants cause several problems in phonology, especially /s/, and especially in Romance linguistics. This paper offers a general overview of the issue of preconsonantal /s/ in Italian dialects as far as its distributional problems are concerned. We will consider its position in the syllable, palatalisation processes, its behaviour in voice assimilation and its deletion. Special sections will be devoted to the case of “Neapolitan s”, which includes six allophones of the /s/ phoneme, and to an OT-account of /sC/-palatalisation in Italian dialects, which is an attempt of unifying theory in order to analyse different /sC/-palatalisation processes as a phonologically uniform phenomena.
Szerző Gómez-Pablos, Beatriz Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Linguistica Oldal pp. 215-230 Absztrakt The present work focuses on three Mexican writers in the Diccionario de Autoridades (Dictionary of Authorities) (1726–1739), by providing information about the authors and their work. Secondly, it describes how academics authorized words in the Dictionary from two points of view: numerically and the use of “Americanisms”. Finally, it tries to explain some nuances that the concept of “authority” involves.
- Su una lettura saussurianaa
Szerző Paolini, Michele Füzet Vol. XVIII/2017/1-2 Kategória Linguistica Oldal pp. 231-243 Absztrakt The initial aim of this paper was to analyse, in the form of a brief informative book review, Massimo Prampolini’s work Ferdinand de Saussure (Roma, Carocci editore, 2017). This book aroused such a lively interest that it has prompted us to expand our original project. Current readings of Saussure’s work can be summarised as follows: an “early Saussure”, based on the publication of the Cours de linguistique générale (1916); a “second Saussure”, witnessed by his Écrits de linguistique générale (2002), documenting the research directed towards the philological study of the Swiss linguist’s manuscripts, and a “third Saussure”, “esoteric”, developed in the “theory of anagrams”, as can be seen in Saussure’s notes, for a long time unconsidered because unpublished, and unpublished because scientifically unsolved. The “second Saussure” offers the reader the most convincing multifaceted view of language which can be achieved today by reading Saussurean studies.
