Absztrakt It is a well-known fact that Gérard de Nerval showed a great interest in Jean Antoine Watteau, and especially in the picture of "Le Pèlerinage à l'île de Cythère". This picture evokes the nostalgia for a lost world where the arcadian happiness pervaded: that's also the subject of the novel Sylvie. Nerval, who situates his Arcadia in the Valois, claims to be the heir of Watteau. This article endeavours to examine the connection between Nerval andWatteau, a relationship which does not only concerns Sylvie, but also Les Faux Saulniers and Voyage en Orient.

Kulcsszavak travel, Orient, romantic, Spain, 19th century
Absztrakt Travelling in the Orient has been an old dream shared by many travellers since the beginning of the 18th century and a popular theme in philosophical and political writings. The Orient is a universe where life is radically different from that in the West. In the 19th century, exploring the Orient first helped one get to better know the other and satisfy a desire for the exotic. For a European of this era, the Orient was the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, full of fantastic lives and enchanted palaces. The travel to that wide romantic East, spreading from Spain to the Levant, was quite often at the origin of a sudden awareness and always an opportunity for a restatement for such writers as Lamartine, Nerval, Flaubert, or even Gautier and Chateaubriand.

Kulcsszavak relevance, metaphor, publicity, contextual effect
Absztrakt This paper provides an analysis of metaphoric utterances from a Relevance Theoretic point of view. We propose that only a theory which includes the concept of contextual effects is able to explain, in an exhaustive way, how publicity manages to capture the targeted customer's attention to make them buy the promoted product.

Kulcsszavak passé composé, passé simple, psychological distance, narrative disjunction, Camus, Rousseau, Proust
Absztrakt This paper deals with the opposition between French passé composé and passé simple in fictional and some other texts. The author focuses on two questions in relation to the notions of island/isolation, namely the function and interpretation of the passé simple inserted into a discoursive context, and the use of the passé composé as a narrative tense, by commenting examples from Camus, Rousseau and Proust. It is argued that such phenomena are closely connected with psychological distance in the case of the passé simple, and with narrative disjunction in the case of the passé composé.

Kulcsszavak Basque, Nahuatl, Spanish, minority, linguistic island
Absztrakt Basque and Nahuatl are special in that they form certain kinds of islands in the Spanish-speaking world. Both languages differ fromSpanish: Basque is not an Indo-European language, its origin is unknown; Nahuatl belongs to the Uto-Aztec language family. Basque is an agglutinating, whereas Nahuatl is an incorporating language. Both live in a close coexistence with Spanish, which is one of the most common spoken languages in the world. In spite of this co-existence with the dominant Spanish language and culture for centuries, Basque- and Nahuatl-speaking minorities have preserved their identity and vitality. This paper intends to give a brief overview of Basque and Nahuatl, linguistic policy, as well as literature in these two languages.

Kulcsszavak pragmalinguistics, journalistic text, reported speech, quotation marks
Absztrakt The paper focuses on the presence of reported speech in journalistic texts. It concentrates on the role of quotation marks as introducers of reported speech elements, marking not only voices different from the author's one, but also pieces of reference sets that are not his own. Words and segments introduced by quotation marks thus show fragments of foreign discourses and foreign individual and social identities. The distance taken by the journalist from the other people's words will be examined on a corpus of French journalistic texts.

Kulcsszavak J.-J. Rousseau, autobiography, language, testimony, fiction, imagination
Absztrakt The unstable genre of Rousseau's Reverie set in motion a movement between biography and narration, testimony and poetic fiction in the wake of Montaigne. In his Reverie, Rousseau builds up a space where he is composed by refraction and displacement. The autobiographical process of writing is a kind of dialectical process between the subject writing about himself and the grammatical person that pertains to language.

Kulcsszavak island, child, territory, symbol, paradise, loneliness
Absztrakt This paper deals with the polysemous notion of 'island'. Based on the works of Le Clézio, Tournier, Verne and others, we try to discover the most important levels of interpretation one by one. We will conclude that the representation of the character of the child is very similar to an island.

Kulcsszavak János Pilinszky, Simone Weil, Francois Mauriac, poetry, comperative analysis
Absztrakt The poetry of János Pilinszky was influenced by the philosophical mysticism of Simone Weil and by the atmosphere of the novels of Francois Mauriac. Their profoundly catholic vision of the world (expressed or inexpressed) is oriented to the universe and to the union of all creatures in three different ways, albeit absolutely authentic and essentially identical. In this paper, I will try to highlight these parallelisms through some notions which are very important in the works of the three authors. I set out from the state of deep solitude and isolation of the reviewed poems of the Hungarian poet János Pilinszky, touching upon the concepts of attention, obscurity, purity, grace and many others by a comparative analysis in a special circular way.

Kulcsszavak music, literature, inter-art, stylistics, tempo, rhythm
Absztrakt There exists an evident and organic connection between the various arts (for example, painting, sculpture, music, dance, literature, film etc.), which can be expressed with the term inter-art. This paper will be concerned with the relation between music and literature, more precisely, it examines the manifestation and the parallels of individual musical forms and renderings in literary text. The selected prose - Marguerite Yourcenar's Oriental Tales - will be the focus of this textual-musical analysis, concentrating on those stylistic characteristics and text formatting tools that exhibit musical features in their properties and their structure. Even up to the present, analyses of literary texts have employed musical terms, for instance, polyphony, rhythm, cadence, pedal point, etc. This study will explore the textual manifestation of the following musical terms: rhythm, upbeat, non legato, imitation, tempo, lento, accelerando, retardation, polyphony, a cappella, soloist and figuration.

Kulcsszavak Romanian, palatalization, palatalized consonants, a;xation, morphology
Absztrakt In this paper, I will argue that the asyllabic /i/ - a recurrent inflectional element in final position in Romanian words - is not a phoneme of the Romanian vowel system. I will present arguments which sustain that the morphological marker -i leads to the palatalization of the preceding consonant, resulting in a positional allophone of the consonant phoneme in complementary distribution with it.

Kulcsszavak history of philosophy, Catholicism, Catholic philosophy
Absztrakt "Catholic philosophy" has a threefold meaning. First, it refers descriptively to the understanding of philosophy throughout the history of Catholic Christianity. After the decline of Hellenism, philosophy in the Greek sense did not survive anywhere else than in Catholicism; the works of the Latin Fathers, the theologians of the Middle Ages, and the Catholic philosophers of the Renaissance and modern periods thereafter not only saved philosophy from historical disappearance but contributed to its revival and new developments. "Catholic philosophy", in the second sense, is the historical matrix in which philosophy of our time has emerged. That is to say, the modern and contemporary meanings of philosophy are marked by their difference from theology properly so called. Thirdly, Catholicism has always considered philosophy as centrally important to the Catholic doctrine. No other Christian denomination has ever shown such an intense, complex, and systematic interest inmaintaining and developing philosophy. Thus, "Catholic philosophy" has the third meaning of a historic achievement in which philosophy could grow into itsmodern forms. In this essay, I investigate the historical development and the contemporary possibilities of Catholic Philosophy.

Kulcsszavak new students, student person, project of the student, skills, university
Absztrakt The chances for a student to be successful during his university studies are determined by various factors. The cultural and socioeconomic heterogeneity of the university during the first year of studies calls for offering programmes which will assist students to build skills necessary to succeed at the university. An educational initiative centred around building a "student person" is possible.

Kulcsszavak grammatical contents, learning, foreign language, foreign language teaching, methodology
Absztrakt The role of grammar in the foreign language classroom has been widely questioned in language teaching methodology. The positions have oscillated between those who have rejected the possibility of including grammar contents and those that have used grammar like a kernel of the learning process. The work that we present here is based on two fundamental ideas: (1) grammar must be understood like an instrument for learning, and (2) the concept of descriptive grammar must be replaced by the one of pedagogical grammar, directed to complete the assimilation of linguistic contents as a vehicle of communication. We develop a new proposal for teaching grammar that will have to contribute to the definitive location of grammar contents in the process of learning a foreign language.
