Absztrakt Hungarians who speak Italian fluently usually commit several pronunciation mistakes. These mistakes go unnoticed, even by native Italians because of the extreme dialectal fragmentation of Italian. However, the recurrent phonetic and phonological features of the Hungarian foreign accent show great differences compared to any Italian varieties. The aim of this paper is to collect and analyse the most common phonetic and phonological characteristics of the foreign accent of Hungarians while speaking Italian, and possibly help them avoid the most obvious mistakes, or, where it is not possible, at least make them realise the Hungarian aspects of their speech that affect their pronunciation of Italian.

Absztrakt This paper analyzes some structural characteristics of Italian monoalphabetical code books from the 14th and 15th centuries. Usually, each cipher key represents the symbols and the principal rules of a different cipher system. First, we present the general parts of the tables, then we examine these parts in detail collecting their various safety elements. For the evaluation and description of the security system of each code book a scale is presented which has two main aspects: the measures of substitution of the alphabetical letters by ciphers, and the numbers and the nature of the safety elements. In our corpus, in addition to complete cipher keys, there is also a reconstructed cipher obtained by the parsing of coded and decoded texts of Maffeo di Treviglio.

Absztrakt The article describes the main linguistic features of the Ladin varieties spoken in the Dolomites. After a general introduction and some notes on the external history of these varieties, we give a concise description of Ladin (historical) phonetics and of the nominal and verbal morphology. A more in-depth description is dedicated to syntax in comparison with the neighboring Northern Italian dialects.

Absztrakt We want to highlight the importance of some general questions about the research on definition. Mechanisms of selection based on context and circumstance determine the activation of operations aimed at specific parts of the global semantic field to which the single definitions relate. The definitions indicate the properties considered essential for these portions of the semantic field. In this regard, we have tested the existence of different levels of semantic organization of definitions. In particular, one explicit and one implicit. Finally, we observed several problems regarding the demarcation between lexicographical definition and definition of technical and scientific terms.

Absztrakt The aim of this paper is to provide a corpus-based analysis of clausal dislocation in spoken French. Two major types of structure are examined: clausal left dislocation and clausal right dislocation. We argue that clausal left dislocation is a topic-marking dislocation construction, as its pragmatic and prosodic features are comparable to those of noun phrase left dislocation. This does not always hold true of clausal right dislocation, because the distinction between clausal right dislocation and extraposition is often problematic, especially when spontaneous speech data are examined.

Absztrakt Italian is a "conservative" language, mostly from a synchronic phonetic and phonological point of view. The conservatism of Italian phonology is most prominent in southern varieties, and it is well analysable through the phenomenon of preconsonantal stopgemination. In this paper I analyse the pronunciation of eleven Italian informants who read sample-phrases with stop + consonant clusters. I claim that Southern Italians usually geminate the first segment of the ill-formed cluster. This gemination process is due to the conservatism of Southern Italian phonology, which requires epenthetic processes rather than deletion or lenition, targeting the conservation of each element of the input form.

Absztrakt The press is a reflection of the reality of an era, its society, customs, interests and anything that conveys knowledge of the events happening. This paper aims to examine the Anglicisms related to the social news included in the Spanish press published between the mid 18th century and 19th century. These voices were timidly entering the Spanish newspapers in order to describe the entertainment and the parties high society attended. The Anglicisms will be analyzed in order to determine whether they have lingered into the Spanish language and whether they have been admitted in the different editions of the Royal Spanish Academy Dictionary.

Kulcsszavak Old Italian, left periphery, focalization, verb movement, clitics
Absztrakt This paper focuses on a possible reinterpretation of the syntactic structure of the Old Italian sentence: some dislocations of the finite verb (V) and of its arguments could be due not to purely syntactic but also to pragmatic reasons, namely they're realized in order to give a specific interpretation to the sentence as a whole. Attention will be especially given to OV and V1 orders, resorting to the data drawn from some Medieval Italian texts (in particular, the Novellino and what is known as the Tristano Riccardiano). The article concludes with some remarks about the syntax of the clitic forms and some guidelines for the future studies about this topic.

Kulcsszavak legal translation, English, Italian, sense, reference
Absztrakt Legal language, as a language for special purposes, contains terms or concepts that are peculiar to that language because of the history and cultural development of the legal system to which that language pertains. This means that there are terms that can only be understood (or have meaning) in the context of that legal culture and language. Furthermore, a legal term or concept in one language may not have a corresponding term (or referent) in another language. Thus, legal concepts or terms have a particularmeaning to readers of a particular legal culture, as well as having a referential function, in that they denote a certain legal concept or notion that has developed in that culture, which emphasizes the specialized nature of the relevant legal language. For this reason, scholars have defined legal terms as "cultural items". Legal translators are faced with the asymmetry of legal systems and the resulting incongruity of legal concepts and terms. This problem arises as legal terms are embedded in the legal culture in which they have developed. Many scholars now assert that a detailed knowledge of both source and target legal terminology and cultures is essential when translating legal texts. As a key to obtaining the required knowledge that such an approach demands, this paper will explore the possibility that legal concepts and terms, are able to be viewed or treated as if they were proper names, as they have a specific meaning and a referential function to a specific concept, in a given legal language or culture. This possibility emerges from a re-evalution of the definition of proper names that has been undertaken in recent times. From this re-evaluation a theory has emerged that posits that words or expressions previously not considered as proper names, can now potentially be viewed as such.
With particular regard to the concepts of sense and reference, I will apply this hypothesis in analysing the translation of legal documents from English to Italian and vice versa.

Kulcsszavak cognitive semantics, cognitive linguistics, concept, articles, teaching French
Absztrakt Since cognitive linguistics has become such an influent theory in the theoretical debate around the world, we first examine the real breakthroughs of this approach, particularly of its semantic side. We then put this conceptual approach to the test by trying to apply it to one of the most problematic areas in French language learning/teaching: articles and the conceptual distinctions they reveal.

Kulcsszavak lexicography, dictionary, macrostructure, lexical grouping
Absztrakt This paper deals with the problem of lexical grouping in two monolingual dictionaries of considerably different languages: on the one hand Robert méthodique, a dictionary of French, on the other Magyar Értelmez? Kéziszótár, a dictionary of Hungarian. As the Hungarian model, lacking in a coherent theoretical basis, seems inadequate, a new approach is being suggested with examples from the letter A/Á. The final part of the paper studies the effects of this new model on the macrostructure, especially as far as readability is concerned.

Kulcsszavak control, subject, raising, nominal features, verbal features
Absztrakt In the present paper we compare the infinitive structures of Modern Italian and Classical Latin, considering the results of modern linguistics and the dichotomy of centre and periphery. We demonstrate that whereas in modern Italian control structures dominate, in Latin this role is played by the accusative with infinitive. However, the phenomenon of control can be observed in Latin as well even though to a much less extent and under stronger limitations than in Italian. Raising structures have an important role in both languages: their most conspicuous manifestation in Latin is the nominative with infinitive. Another difference between these two languages is that whereas in Italian the infinitive structures show a greater variety (beyond the above mentioned ones there are causative, articled infinitive structures and so on), in Latin practically three structures (accusative with infinitive, nominative with infinitive and control structure) cover the whole range of infinitive structures.

Kulcsszavak Spanish, verbs of sensorial perception, Aktionsart, aspect, syntax
Absztrakt The aim of this paper is to comment on some particular aspectual characteristics of the verbs of sensorial perception in Present-Day Spanish and the differences of syntactic behaviour that these characteristics suppose. The interrelation between aspectual information and syntax, just as it happens with other types of verbs, seems evident. In the particular case of the pair ver-mirar, we propose that aspectual characteristics do not only entail diversity of syntactic structures but also lexical differences.

Kulcsszavak copula, classification, identification, permanent quality, inherent quality
Absztrakt The Hungarian verb van ‘to be' may be rendered in Spanish by two verbs: ser and estar. The translation of van depends on the structure in which these two verbs appear. When the copula is followed by a noun, pronoun or the preposition de and a noun, there is an obligatory use of ser. It is used without a preposition to identify or to classify. When it classifies, it can take the preposition de. Estar always takes a preposition. It may indicate the function performed by the subject or it may indicate various other things depending on the preposition. When the verb is followed by an adjective, ser expresses a permanent or inherent quality, estar expresses a quality which is neither permanent nor inherent. Sometimes both verbs may be used with the same adjective, but there is a change of meaning.

Kulcsszavak nominal and verbal features, mixed construction, expression of the subject, control
Absztrakt The present study aims at drawing a comparison between the 'article + infinitive' constructions in Italian and Spanish. The comparative analysis will tackle both structural questions and the use of these constructions in the two languages. It will be argued that in spite of the extensive similarity of the infinitive preceded by an article (or any other determiner) in Italian and Spanish there are some important divergences that should be noted, too: Italian displays three, Spanish only two subtypes of the basic pattern. Our contrastive analysis allows us to make some more general observations concerning the syntax of Italian and Spanish, in particular with regards to the expression of the subject.

Kulcsszavak idiomaticity, illocutionary act, bound utterance, morphological constraint, French
Absztrakt Bound utterances like A votre santé!; Tu vois!; Ça va! are frequent reactions to more or less well-defined speech situations. Many of them bear idiomatic properties, even though linguists sometimes do not regard them as such. We first give an account on discourse acts from a lexicalist point of view, that is, in terms of argument structure. After that, we provide a full analysis on illocutionary frozen sentences based on the notion of illocutionary predicate. Parting from these theoretical considerations, we discuss the results of an investigation carried out on some 200 French expressions. Examined features are morphological, lexical and syntactical constraints. As a result, evidence is shown that idiomaticity in these utterances has properties that no other types possess.

Kulcsszavak sociolinguistics, juvenile language, computer-mediated communication, computermediated knowledge, Italian
Absztrakt This paper first presents some facts about the cultural background of young Italian people, showing subsequently a selection of the well-established characters of spoken and written juvenile Italian. Then it moves over to discuss the technological situation of Italy, also presenting a choice of widely recognized peculiarities of the language of Italian Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) and showing that many of them are linked to a juvenile linguistic background. The paper then discusses the influence that computers and computermediated knowledge might have on the juvenile cultural world, presenting also some opinions about these two types of language (juvenile language and CMC), considered by some as marginal or even dangerous for the "integrity" of the Italian language. Regarding this issue, the author states - recalling a well-established scientific tradition - that the mostmature behavior would be to consider every variety of Italian - even the humblest - as equally relevant and linguistically interesting, although it is pivotal to use it in the right way and in the correct context.

Kulcsszavak passé composé, passé simple, psychological distance, narrative disjunction, Camus, Rousseau, Proust
Absztrakt This paper deals with the opposition between French passé composé and passé simple in fictional and some other texts. The author focuses on two questions in relation to the notions of island/isolation, namely the function and interpretation of the passé simple inserted into a discoursive context, and the use of the passé composé as a narrative tense, by commenting examples from Camus, Rousseau and Proust. It is argued that such phenomena are closely connected with psychological distance in the case of the passé simple, and with narrative disjunction in the case of the passé composé.

Kulcsszavak Basque, Nahuatl, Spanish, minority, linguistic island
Absztrakt Basque and Nahuatl are special in that they form certain kinds of islands in the Spanish-speaking world. Both languages differ fromSpanish: Basque is not an Indo-European language, its origin is unknown; Nahuatl belongs to the Uto-Aztec language family. Basque is an agglutinating, whereas Nahuatl is an incorporating language. Both live in a close coexistence with Spanish, which is one of the most common spoken languages in the world. In spite of this co-existence with the dominant Spanish language and culture for centuries, Basque- and Nahuatl-speaking minorities have preserved their identity and vitality. This paper intends to give a brief overview of Basque and Nahuatl, linguistic policy, as well as literature in these two languages.

Absztrakt The paper focuses on the presence of reported speech in journalistic texts. It concentrates on the role of quotation marks as introducers of reported speech elements, marking not only voices different from the author's one, but also pieces of reference sets that are not his own. Words and segments introduced by quotation marks thus show fragments of foreign discourses and foreign individual and social identities. The distance taken by the journalist from the other people's words will be examined on a corpus of French journalistic texts.

Absztrakt This paper discusses the writing system of the Sephardic Jews, who were expelled from the Iberian peninsula in 1492. After a short description of the history of the Spanish Jews, the Jewish languages are described in general, then the Judeo-Spanish language in particular. In connection with the writing systemof the language under discussion, a detailed description is provided of the varieties that use Hebrew characters when writing in Spanish, followed by an account of the systems that came into existence following the introduction of the writing system based on Latin letters. Related to the orthography of the Judeo-Spanish language, the pros and cons of the writing system using diacritics and the "Aki Yerushalayim system" are discussed. Issues such as the maintenance of the language and its standardization are also touched upon.

Kulcsszavak emigration, Italian dialects abroad, linguistic community, linguistic minority, language contact
Absztrakt This paper examines the historical events and the linguistic consequences of a number of migratory movements from Italy to Southern European and Mediterranean countries between the end of the 17th century and the first few decades of the 18th century. Such directions and destinations are lesser known than those migrations generally associated "historically" with Italian emigration (North and South America, and, more recently, Northern Europe and Australia); nevertheless, the linguistic heritage of such movements is still very much alive or else has become extinct in only very recent times. Those who migrated from Veneto and Trentino to the Balcans, from Puglia to Crimea, the Sicilians who emigrated to Tunisia, the Piedmontese who went to province, the Ligurians who moved to various locations from Gibraltar to the Black Sea, all gave birth to small linguistic communities, to real dialectal koinès, to important phenomena of mixing codes and lexical borrowing from the local languages. An overall picture will be built up in order to evaluate the importance of these phenomena and to posit a series of hypotheses of a sociolinguistic and political nature.

Absztrakt Taking into account the concept of 'self-citation' as ‘literal reproduction, word by word, of someone's words (cf. the prefix auto-) in order to indicate the right scope to understand sentences', the paper intends to analyse the relation between elements inside the adverbial structure "ADVment parlant" where 'ADVment' is understood as 'point of view adverbs'. The paper presents an analysis of the nature of the relation between the adverbial structure and the sentence which is related to it. A new concept will be introduced - close to what is referred to as the parenthétique character of these adverbs - the parenthésique character, which appears only when they the adverbs are used in final position. There, "self-citation" emerges unleashing a range of cognitive procedures.

Kulcsszavak verbal categories, idiomatic categories, theory of language, description of languages
Absztrakt The definition of noun, adjective, verb and adverb currently does not find a general agreement in the scope of Hispanic linguistics. There have been many definitions with various different criteria. Thus, morphological, lexical, syntactic and even logical arguments have been used. Such diversity in the use of criteria is translated in an accumulation of definitions that vary from author to author and which results in the cataloguing of noun, adjective, verb and adverb representatives based on currents or on individual authors. Since, as it seems to be generally recognised, examples of each of the groups exist in more than one language it seems advisable to try to establish definitions that leave apart the particularities of each language and gather the essence of the noun, adjective, verb and adverb beings. The location of representatives of each of these categories and the description of the schemes in which they materialized will correspond to the scope of each language (that is, the determination of the idiomatic categories in each language). We present here a classification of these idiomatic categories applied to Spanish.

The second one is a one-sentence subtitle from a film, inadvertently translated from Spanish into (native) Polish. The translation (which should have been carried out with a word-for-word translation) was put into Polish by the translator using a dynamic equivalent of an idiomatic expression. The dynamic equivalent does not match the scene in the film.

Absztrakt The phenomenon of retranslation may be accounted for in a number of ways. Some of the commonly mentioned factors are: the ageing of the existing translation(s), the necessity to introduce corrections or improvements, and commercial reasons, too. Some case studies show that other factors can lead to retranslation, namely those resulting from the needs of the target culture. The present paper offers yet another possible explantion. The case of several French renditions of the Polish national epic Pan Tadeusz (1834) by Adam Mickiewicz, shows that the needs of the original culture can also motivate retranslation.

Kulcsszavak didactics of foreign languages, pre-reading tasks, Quintilian, reduction, epistemology
Absztrakt The paper aims to characterize the reading task as a situation in which it is the communicative reader that leads the dialogue. By formulating hypotheses, the learner poses questions to the text which will answer. In this case, the demarcation between speaking and written language is not pertinent. The prereading tasks also presuppose the validity of the notion of "category" that help reduce the text to a few descriptive parameters. Classroomactivities are arguments that weaken the eclectic and post-communicativist criticisms addressed to the communicative approach by pointing out an non-reducible personality of the learner. Another weak point of these criticisms resides in the history of epistemology. Francis Bacon also plead for a non-reducible personality of the substance and unhappily predicted that chemistry as a science was impossible to be founded.

Absztrakt Different kinds of computer mediated communication combine contradictory properties. On one hand, there are typical features of spoken language, on the other, there are parameters traditionally associated to written productions. We propose three levels of distinction between spoken and written language: material form, conditions of production, and structure of the final product. Spoken and written language, conceived as two different strategies of expression, cannot be limited to the material realization of language. Other parameters to be taken into consideration are the co-presence of the interacting partners and, consequently, the possibility of direct feedback. Some discourse have mixed characteristics, situating themselves between the ideal categories of spoken and written language.

Absztrakt In Carlos Fuentes's work we can witness, as with many other Boom writers, the proposal of a novel innovation through subverting traditional writing genres. Specifically, in La Muerte de Artemio Cruz, there seems to be an opposition between the narrative voice TÚ and the narrative voices YO and ÉL in order to establish a destruction of the conventional autobiographical discourse that the last two represent. In addition, TÚ openly denounces the chingada, an essential element of the Mexican social life which YO and ÉL defend and justify, so Fuentes goes beyond the proposed stylistic goal. Otherwise, after Aura, where the author introduces the TÚ form for the first time, the complex plot of Artemio Cruz's agony results in the success of the 'New Latin American Novel'.

Absztrakt There is a wealth of bibliographic material available to the researcher who intends to understand the diVerent models of linguistic analysis. By contrast, far fewer pages have been devoted to the examination of the linguistic ideas implicit in languages, that is to say, to the investigation of the linguistic culture of a community. By means of linguistic cultural expression one can distinguish at least two difeerent realities: on the one hand, the knowledge, attitudes and beliefs about the factors at play in the act of speaking and which in some manner determine it, and, on the other, the notions of language and speaking manifested by distinct languages in their difeerences. My article is concerned with this last element of cultural linguistics. Above all, I am interested in the communal evaluations which help each historical collective to identify their linguistic reality, inasmuch as they reveal a prescientific and intuitive conscience which does not respond to the criteria of any science, though they are not delimitations which seek to study the nature of this reality in detail. This does not mean, however, that they are therefore absurd or unnecessary; in reality they appear daily in the behaviour of the speakers of the language (including that of linguists).

Absztrakt Only a consideration starting from the Indo-European age offers a correct point of view to investigate the collapse of the Latin nominal flection: an observation of Late Latin on the one hand and the ancient Romance languages on the other does not allow for a penetration into the question in its complexity. Latin represents an intermediate phase between the reconstructed Indo-European and the Romances languages: the marking of the relations of the nouns with other phrase elements in the Latin type prepositions and endings coexist, while in Romances languages prepositions are prevailing (but the development is slower in some areas, and we find declensions in the most archaic phase of French and Provençal, whereas remnants of declensions survive in modern Rumanian). There are various causes for the collapse of the nominal flection: they include the need to eliminate redundancies in the ancient system (endings coexist with vowel mutation, suppletivism and displacement of stress to individuate the cases) and the fact that many new linguistic categories appear for which an expression with a preposition plus a noun is obligatory, because the inventory of case endings is already closed in the most ancient Indo-European phase.

Absztrakt Spanish and Portuguese, the two most representative Iberoromance languages, coincide in having preserved the phenomenon of clitic promotion since ancient times. The detailed analysis of the phenomenon mentioned above in a medieval and a modern corpus presented in this article demonstrates that, in spite of the apparent similarities, there are considerable differences between the structure of the constructions composed of a regent verb and an infinitive in the two periods.

First, we briefly present the word order of the late medieval Romance languages. Then we focus on the word order of the late medieval Toscan dialect and we show that all the characteristics observable in the medieval Romance languages (V2 phenomena, inversion, separation of the finite and non-finite for of the verb, etc.) are to be found also in our late medieval corpus. The apparently problematic case of the V1 order is given an account compatible with the old system (even though it assumes the presence of an adverb before the subject in the base order), and this account is also confirmed by examples which contain compound verb-forms.

Modern Italian tre anni / mesi / settimane fa ‘three years / mounths / weeks ago'). We will show that the Modern Italian phrase derives from a similar one which was used also in Old Italian, whose syntactic structure was, nevertheless, different. Whereas the deictic value of the Old Italian expression resulted from the compositional meaning of the single elements which formed it, in Modern Italian the syntactic ‘transparence' is lost and we can say that the modern form has become lexically deictic.

Here the completive is linked by che to a NS such as ricordanza, parola, promessione, segno and so on. The other is of the ‘aver novella che' variety. In this case the completive is governed by a VS composed of a verbal operator + noun generally indicating a locutionary act (bando, novella, preghiera, promessa, sentenza, etc.). These two kinds of completive constructions give rise to numerous implementations in Old Italian, the sheer number of which supports the claim that one of the most striking characteristics of early Italian prose is its plasticity.

Absztrakt In this paper I will discuss the syntax of possessives cooccurring with Kinship Nouns in Old Italian and Old Venetian in comparison with modern italian varieties. Considering the morphology of possessives and the semantics of the class of Kinship Nouns I will try to explain why this class of nouns displays - in different varieties - a peculiar syntactic behaviour with regard to the cooccurrence of possessives and definite articles.

Absztrakt In conjoined structures in Modern Italian, clitic pronouns are to be repeated, even if exceptions from this rule are to some extent acceptable, as in lo leggo e rileggo. The Old Italian grammar appears to have been considerably more liberal on this point. In a 13th century text such as Il Libro de' Vizî e delle Virtundi, the omission of clitic pronouns in the second conjuct of a conjoined structure is highly frequent. This pronominal system, however, is not generally valid for the entire Old Italian period. Arguably, some 13th and 14th century authors cancel clitics in context where null objects cannot be recovered in Modern Italian. This indicates that some alternative recovery strategy was indeed available at an earlier stage of Italian.

Absztrakt The graphical form <si> of Medieval Florentine texts may represent two different linguistic forms: the reflexive clitic si and the adverb sì. After a review of several more or less traditional criteria used in distinguishing the two forms, a new morphophonological criterion is proposed which makes possible to decide in a greater number of contexts (although not in all). The old criteria and the new one are then used in the study of the putative reflexive use of the verb essere: although essersi seems very frequent in current editions of Medieval texts, one can show that, apart from some specific syntactic contexts, its use is very limited.

Absztrakt "Parahypotaxis" is the name traditionally assigned to Old Italian sequences of dependent clauses with following main clauses introduced by e ("and") or ("thus"). is not a coordinating conjunction like e but an adverbial element, and for this reason the relevant examples should be taken away from the category; instead I would suggest also taking into account parahypotactic structures with main clauses introduced by the adversative coordinating conjunction ma ("but"), a kind of combination which in my opinion was underestimated in the traditional literature.

Absztrakt This paper deals with the deverbal nominalisations with the suffixes -tore, -ione, -mento found in (a small corpus of texts of) the Fiorentino of the XIII century. The analysis is carried out from a synchronic point of view and tries to describe the word formation procedures adopted during the Duecento.

Absztrakt This article attempts a description and an analysis of demonstrative pronouns questo and quello used as phrasal connectors in Boccaccio's Decameron. The emphasis is firmly placed on syntactic and textual phenomena, but at the same time semantic and pragmatic aspects have been considered. Comparison with contemporary and later texts starts up an in-depth study of this so far neglected subject concerning the old Italian syntax.

Absztrakt "We are working for you" - During the second half of the XXth century, numerous linguistical studies of Old Italian non-literary texts have appeared. These works aim to reconstruct the state of the spoken language in the differents parts of the peninsula and would therefore seem to be obligatory reading for critical editors of literary texts of the same regions, but this is not always the case. This paper examines a number of cases in which otherwise sound scholars have come a cropper from not using the relevant linguistic research literature.

Absztrakt In the present article I will argue that there is no need to posit underlying glides in Spanish because the syllabicity of high vowels (i, u) is determined by the stress pattern of the word and the segmental environment of the vowels. I will also argue that non-alternating rising diphthongs and falling diphthongs can uniformly be accounted for in the framework of strict CV (Lowenstamm 1996).

On the basis of their teaching experience with Chinese learners, Ms Charmet and Ms Martin present a thorough error analysis and thus propose a method which is conform to Chinese way of thinking as well as to Chinese learning habits: amusing activities which lead students from repetition drills to a reflective and creative language use, with special attention to phonological difficulties.

Absztrakt The article is the fourth part of a series analysing the lexicographical presence of Italian in Hungarian language: after names of persons places and institutions the Author focuses now on trade marks. She shows the specialities of this sector of the lexicon: the intentions of marketing, the lexicalization process and the high speed of changes. She provides a large range of examples, cathegorized by a linguistical tipology: abbreviations, derived and composed names, sintagmatical and phrasal ones.

The author begins the article with a chronological survey of the influence, giving prototypical examples for each period. He shows the quality and quantity change in English loan-words which process starts at the beginning of the 19th century. In the second part of the study the linguistic aspects of the loans are analysed.

Absztrakt English and French have always been closely connected but, nowadays, their cultural and historical contacts have changed to such an extent that French can be considered as the most anglicised Romance language. The beginning of the domination of English dates from the 18th century, but the mass flow of English loan-words characterizes rather the 19th and 20th centuries and this tendency keeps accelerating day by day.
